Library management software enables people to accomplish a series of specific tasks in the management of any or all aspects relating to a company's library. It provides comprehensive management of library’s database, member info, booking, issue, return etc. In addition, various reports & statistical data capabilities are covered within the system. The proposed system is divided into two areas-

1. LAN Based: This area is accessed by library Admin/operators. Data entry is done in this portion.

2. Web Based: This area can be accessed from the web. User can view/search all the materials from the web. Users can also download pdf formats. And, members can login to the system for booking an item & checking their reservation status. Latest books info, important links, news & events info is also available.

Plain English, full-text/key words searching

In addition to browsing online collections, it offers powerful attribute-based and natural language content searching. Attribute searching helps users locate documents based on the information about each of the documents, such as the title, description, ISBN or author or others.

Security

The application will provide appropriate security features at application and database levels to protect the system from being accessed or interrupted by any unauthorized users, hackers or crackers. Data entry operator’s name, data entry date, data modification date and data modified by info will be stored automatically and the admin can view this information.

Role based permissions

The system will provide access rights to different information based on user login. Everyone will not be able to view every material.

Configuration Management and Customization

The system will permit the administrator(s) to create new user level, users etc.
